Fransina Mwetufa, a former teacher from the Ohangwena region, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison following her conviction on multiple charges. On Monday, the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court found Mwetufa guilty of five serious offenses, including attempted murder, theft under false pretenses, fraud, forgery, and uttering.
Mwetufa was arrested in 2021 after an investigation revealed that she had forged her academic qualifications to gain employment at Limbadungila Combined School, where she had worked for two years. In addition to the forgery, it was discovered that she had illicitly transferred money from the school principal’s account for personal gain.
The investigation also revealed that Mwetufa used forged documents to purchase a vehicle. She was arrested and charged for these crimes, and the court has now handed down a 13-year prison sentence.
