GROTON, CONN. — Jeremy Colonghi, 47, of New London, was arrested early this morning in Groton after being wanted by Waterbury Police for a series of charges including first-degree stalking, criminal violation of a protective order, second-degree harassment, and disorderly conduct.
Colonghi was taken into custody without incident around 5:30 a.m. on Thames Street in Groton, following a joint investigation into his alleged threats and harassment of both public officials and private individuals. Authorities had been investigating Colonghi for several months, and his arrest was the result of extensive work by law enforcement.
In addition to the charges from Waterbury, Colonghi also faces charges of refusal to be processed after his arrest. He had an outstanding failure to appear warrant from Waterbury Superior Court, as well as another active arrest warrant issued by Groton Police.
He is currently being held on a $215,000 bond. Law enforcement officials have stated that this arrest marks an important step in addressing Colonghi’s ongoing legal issues, including his threatening behavior toward public officials.
Groton and Waterbury police continue to investigate the case, and Colonghi will face further legal proceedings in the coming weeks.
