BOLIVAR PENINSULA, Texas – Beaumont Police Department Officer Reginald Charles Boykin Jr., 35, was arrested during Jeep Weekend on the Bolivar Peninsula after being charged with several misdemeanor offenses.

According to Galveston County Sheriff Jimmy Fullen, Boykin was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon for open container, expired license plates, and failure to display a driver’s license. Boykin posted bond and was subsequently released from jail.

Sheriff Fullen reported that Boykin was initially uncooperative during the arrest, refusing to exit his vehicle and claiming to be a police officer. The arresting officer responded, saying, “then you know what to do,” before calling Beaumont Police Department to inform them of the situation.

Officer Haley Morrow confirmed that Boykin has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the investigation continues, in line with standard protocol.

Despite the incident, Sheriff Fullen stated that the enforcement effort during Jeep Weekend has been largely successful, with no major crimes reported as of Sunday night. There have been no homicides, shootings, sexual assaults, or major DWI crashes, with only a couple of DWI arrests made. The law enforcement presence will continue past midnight to ensure public safety.
