A 49-year-old man, Daniel Coulson, has appeared in court charged with burglary after an incident in Ipswich. Suffolk Police responded to reports of a burglary at Carats Jewellers on Buttermarket around 4:35 AM on Thursday.

Coulson climbed onto the roof of the building, where he remained for nine hours, prompting a significant emergency response. He has been charged with intentionally or recklessly causing a public nuisance and two counts of burglary related to businesses in Buttermarket.

The situation was resolved around 1:40 PM when police lifted the cordon, allowing shops to reopen. Coulson has been remanded in custody and is set to appear again at Ipswich Crown Court on June 17.
