Two Charged in $17 Million Fraud Case at HEART/NSTA Trust

MOCA Charges Ex-Employees with Larceny, Fraud, and More

The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) has charged two individuals involved in a targeted operation this morning in Montego Bay, St. James, and Portmore, St. Catherine. The charges stem from a $17 million fraud investigation linked to the HEART/NSTA Trust.

Simoes Ellis, a former employee of the HEART/NSTA Trust from Gregory Park, Portmore, has been charged with larceny as a servant, possession of criminal property, and conspiracy.

Meanwhile, Kevina Atkins, another former employee of the Trust residing in Salt Spring, St. James, faces charges of receiving stolen property, possession of criminal property, and conspiracy to defraud.

Both individuals are scheduled to appear before the St. James Parish Court on December 4.

Major Basil Jarrett, Director of Communications at MOCA, emphasized that the charges reflect the hard work and dedication of MOCA’s investigators, further highlighting the agency’s commitment to combatting fraud and other financial crimes.
