The Lucknow police captured notorious conman Vikas Yadav, also known as Arun Yadav, on Friday. He was involved in an employment scam that defrauded job seekers of approximately Rs80 lakh. Yadav, 33, was apprehended in Nehru Enclave, Gomtinagar, after evading authorities for six years.
Yadav was wanted in connection with a fraud case and had a bounty of Rs10,000 for information leading to his arrest. Vikram Singh, Station House Officer of Hazratganj, explained that the scam came to light when a complaint was filed on March 14, 2018, by Ram Prasad Yadav, a resident of Sonbhadra. The complaint alleged that Vikas Yadav, alongside accomplices, promised temporary employment in various government departments, including the Lucknow Development Authority, railways, and the revenue department.
The accused reportedly issued fake training certificates, appointment letters, and forged documents bearing official signatures, collecting significant amounts of money from victims. The investigation was initiated following this complaint, revealing the extent of the fraudulent activities.
Yadav had been on the run since 2018, constantly changing locations to avoid capture. In 2023, a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) was issued against him, leading to his eventual arrest.
