Two members of a drug trafficking gang, Avesh Khan and Sumit Maurya, were arrested by the Indore police on Tuesday after a raid uncovered 14 grams of MD drugs. The drugs, along with a motorcycle and other items valued at Rs 2 lakh, were seized from the suspects.
According to Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya, the police had been monitoring the area based on a tip-off. The duo was seen acting suspiciously at Suryadev Nagar Square near a local café, prompting further investigation.
Avesh Khan, 20, from Ravji Bazaar, works in grocery packaging and has a history of two cases involving assault and threats. Sumit Maurya, 22, from Bhawarkuan, is a wholesale textile trader with multiple criminal records, including charges of murder, assault, and gambling.
During questioning, the suspects revealed they were planning to sell the MD drugs in small “token” quantities, targeting students and party-goers for the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The police have filed a case under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act and are continuing their investigation.
