The district police have arrested five individuals allegedly involved in two separate ganja smuggling cases and seized a total of 246 kgs of ganja worth approximately Rs13 lakh. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth over Rs25 lakh if sold in some northern states.
At a press conference, Superintendent of Police (SP), M. Deepika shared details about the operation. In one case, four suspects – S. Srinu (23), V. Iswara Rao (26), K. Kondababu (22), and P. Dilip Kumar (24), all hailing from ASR district, were caught attempting to transport the illegal drugs in a vehicle. The police apprehended them near Manchala village of Cheedikada mandal, recovering 150 kgs of ganja worth Rs7.50 lakh.
In the second case, Ravikamatham police arrested P. Satyanarayana, a resident of Penumuluru mandal in Krishna district, while he was attempting to transport 96 kgs of ganja valued at ₹4.80 lakh. Both busts are part of ongoing efforts by the district police to curb drug trafficking in the region.
