In a significant breakthrough in its drug smuggling investigation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Sufiyan Yakub Khan, the alleged kingpin behind a major Mephedrone trafficking racket. Khan, who had been on the run since June, was apprehended in connection with the seizure of 31.5 kg of Mephedrone, valued at Rs 50 crore.
The case unfolded when NCB officials, acting on specific intelligence, arrested Musharaf Jan Mohammed in the Nagpada area, recovering 10 kg of Mephedrone from his possession. Further investigations led to the identification of a Sewree resident, from whom the NCB seized 11 kg of MD and the scooter allegedly used to peddle the drugs.
The probe revealed that Sufiyan Yakub Khan was the supplier of the drugs, leading to his booking for his alleged role in the extensive drug smuggling operation. The investigation is ongoing as the NCB works to uncover more details of the trafficking network.
