In a breakthrough investigation, Kodagu police have arrested three individuals in connection with the murder of Ramesh, a 54-year-old real estate businessman from Telangana. The shocking case, which garnered significant attention, was solved just 15 days after a half-decomposed body was discovered on October 8 in Panya Estate, near Suntikoppa, Kodagu district.
The police arrested Ramesh’s second wife, Niharika (29), along with Dr. Nikhil, a veterinarian, and Ankur Rana, an associate. The victim was believed to have been murdered elsewhere before his body was set on fire with petrol, leading to his gruesome discovery.
Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan, overseeing the investigation, formed special teams to review CCTV footage from multiple regions. The investigation linked a red Benz car to Ramesh, but it was revealed he had been missing for over a week, prompting further inquiry into his family and associates.
Niharika, who had been involved in a series of financial disputes with Ramesh over a demand for ₹8 crore, confessed to her role in the crime. She, along with Dr. Nikhil and Ankur Rana, has been arrested, and further investigations are ongoing to understand the full extent of their involvement in the murder.
