KANDAL, Cambodia – Touch Leakena, a 39-year-old female diamond dealer, was arrested on May 22, 2024, after confessing to the theft of precious jewelry valued at $24,000. The suspect was apprehended in Prek Samrong 2 village, located in Sangkat Takhmao, Takhmao city, Kandal province.
The fraud was reported by Hun Nary, a 39-year-old Cambodian woman, who accused Leakena of stealing several pieces of jewelry, including 4 metal necklaces, a set of metal bracelets, a yellow metal bracelet, and 2 yellow metal rings. According to the plaintiff, Leakena sold the stolen jewelry and kept the proceeds.
Upon questioning by the authorities, Leakena admitted to taking the jewelry from the victim. She is currently being held in custody at the Takhmao City Police Inspectorate while further investigation takes place.
