The Malabar Hill Police have arrested Pravin Sathe, a 42-year-old man, for forging the signature of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and fraudulently declaring himself as his Chief Executive Officer. The accused also used a fake letterhead with Pawar’s name to carry out his scam.
Sathe claimed to hold the position of CEO at Ajit Pawar’s official residence, ‘Devagiri Bungalow,’ and allegedly exploited this false identity to deceive multiple individuals. He is believed to have posed as a high-ranking government official to facilitate his fraudulent activities. Originally from Satara, Sathe was arrested in Ulwe following a complaint filed by Atul Shitole, a Pune-based businessman.
The scam came to light after several complaints surfaced, prompting an investigation. The police also uncovered a recent case involving the misuse of official letterheads and seals of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, highlighting the growing concerns over the illegal use of official identities for scams.
This case adds to the increasing instances of misuse of government official identities, further raising concerns about fraud involving forged signatures and falsified official documents.
