James Maurice January, a 40-year-old resident of Winston, Oregon, was arrested on multiple charges, including identity theft, following a police encounter early Wednesday morning. Officers from the Roseburg Police Department identified January as a suspect in a previous case involving stolen credit cards used for fraudulent transactions.
The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday when law enforcement officers spotted January riding his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle along a bicycle path at Gaddis Park. The officers made contact with him and, during the investigation, discovered he was connected to the earlier credit card theft case.
As a result of the arrest, January’s motorcycle was impounded, and he was charged with multiple offenses, including Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, Identity Theft, Computer Crime, and Theft II. The arrest highlights an ongoing effort to curb identity theft and fraud in the area.
