The suspect, Vinod Lankhan Pal, was arrested late Wednesday night in Niwadi district, Madhya Pradesh. The crime branch team was able to track him down through a combination of valuable clues gathered during their investigation, including CCTV footage from areas near the crime scene.
The robbery occurred on December 29 at Rishabh Jewellers, where two men, pretending to be customers, entered the store. After tying up the owner Bhavarlal Jain and his employee, they assaulted them and stole jewellery weighing 2,458 grams. The robbers fled with the stolen goods, leaving the victims bound. A customer later entered the store and discovered the scene, leading to a complaint being filed.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code for robbery, house trespassing, and provisions of the Arms Act. Following an investigation, the prime suspect, Pal, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was located and arrested in Madhya Pradesh. Authorities have now brought him back to Mumbai for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
This arrest marks a significant step in solving the high-profile heist and recovering the stolen items. The investigation continues as authorities track down the second suspect involved in the robbery.
