GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Charlette Joleen Rothgeb, 20, and Neverson Lavaion White, 19, both from Ocala, were arrested at Walmart on Waldo Road on June 12 for allegedly stealing a 2021 Honda Civic Type R earlier reported stolen in Ocala.

Police say Rothgeb and White were detained without incident after Loss Prevention Officers spotted them near the stolen vehicle. White was found carrying the car keys, and his wallet was located inside the stolen car.

According to their statements, the pair had met the vehicle’s owner the previous evening and engaged in illegal street racing across Ocala. Rothgeb alleged the victim behaved inappropriately during a hotel stay, prompting them to steal the car while he was away.

Both Rothgeb and White were charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and have no prior criminal records. Their bail was set at $20,000 each, with the possibility of waiver upon qualification for day reporting.
