by Ananya Mehta

The Odisha Crime Branch arrested Anushka Mitra, a resident of Durgapur, West Bengal, for her involvement in a Rs74.10 lakh investment fraud. She was produced before a local court in Odisha on June 7 and sent to judicial custody after being brought on transit remand.

Officials stated that Mitra and her accomplices posed as expert trade analysts, convincing a Balasore district resident to invest in international metal trading, IPOs, and OTC platforms. Despite accumulating losses, the victim kept investing, lured by false promises of high returns.

When the victim sought to withdraw funds, the fraudsters demanded additional payments. Realizing the deceit, the victim filed an FIR, leading to Mitra’s arrest.
