Seven suspects have been arrested following police raids on three illegal lending businesses operating across four provinces in Thailand, Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) officers reported on Saturday. Each business reportedly had a cash flow of at least 100 million baht.

The first raid took place at the offices of Cash Today in Chanthaburi province, where police seized documents and evidence after investigating the company, which recruited customers through its Facebook page. The major investor, known only as Sumet, was absent during the raid but later surrendered to authorities.

Two other individuals, identified as Supattra, 54, and Rewat, 39, were arrested at their homes in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi and Nong Khaem districts.

In a separate operation in Lam Luk Ka, Pathum Thani, three more suspects were detained: investor Porapawit, 54, and debt collectors Krittin, 30, and Chao, 31. Loan contracts and bank passbooks linked to illegal lending were confiscated.

Another suspect, known as Suphapak or An, 35, was arrested in Sukhothai province. She was identified as a prominent loan shark operating under the name Jay An Fast Cash, charging exorbitant daily interest rates as high as 7.75%. Police revealed that her enforcers intimidated debtors at their homes if payments were missed.

All suspects admitted to the charges. Investigations into the financial activities of the three lending networks revealed cash flows exceeding 100 million baht each, according to Pol Maj Gen Thatphum Jaruphat, ECD commander.
