The Des Moines Police Department arrested two suspects after a 35-minute, three-stop robbery spree that occurred on Sunday. Clayton Joseph Sanders, 36, and Neveah Jeaniya Burks, 23, were taken into custody following a series of targeted heists in the area.
Police say the pair is responsible for three robberies, including a hold-up at a Walgreens in the Oakridge Neighborhood. Authorities were alerted to the crimes after employees reported stolen cash that contained a GPS tracking device. This led to a quick response by law enforcement, who tracked the suspects’ vehicle and apprehended them minutes after the last robbery took place.
During their investigation, officers learned that the stolen cash had been equipped with a GPS tracker, allowing authorities to follow the suspects’ movements. After securing the vehicle, police obtained search warrants that led to the recovery of stolen property linked to the robberies. Additionally, a handgun was recovered from the suspects’ possession.
Both Sanders and Burks are facing multiple felony charges, including three counts of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, and possessing dangerous weapons while ineligible. They were booked into the Polk County Jail, with investigations continuing.
Des Moines authorities have promised to release more details as the case develops. Residents are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
