MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) — Two men are in custody following a vehicle pursuit with a stolen car in Moncks Corner on Saturday, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) reports.
A BCSO deputy on patrol noticed a vehicle that resembled one recently reported as stolen from North Charleston. The vehicle was being driven by a person wearing a ski mask. After the deputy followed the vehicle, it turned into a Food Lion parking lot, where a traffic stop was attempted.
Upon confirming the vehicle was stolen, deputies initiated a traffic stop, but the car fled into the nearby College Park Estates. The vehicle eventually stopped on Kentucky Drive, and four people exited the vehicle, fleeing on foot while carrying firearms.
A K9 apprehended 18-year-old Jerreil Dequan Willis, who was found with a converted fully automatic firearm. He has been charged with failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a machine gun, and resisting arrest.
18-year-old Josiah Williams, who had laid on the ground after exiting the vehicle, was also taken into custody. He faces charges of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Willis was booked at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center on a $20,500 bond, while Williams was released after posting a $2,000 surety bond.
