A Salisbury man was convicted on Thursday after a four-day jury trial for attempted first-degree murder and multiple related charges. Tre Wallace, 37, was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, two counts of witness intimidation, and other offenses.
The charges stem from a disturbing month-long series of events in which Wallace allegedly stalked his estranged girlfriend’s new boyfriend, plotting to kill him. On November 20, 2023, Wallace arranged for a family member to drive him to his ex-girlfriend’s home in a car she wouldn’t recognize. Wallace fired multiple shots at the couple as he drove by. The boyfriend pursued Wallace’s vehicle in a high-speed chase for about five miles, with both parties exchanging gunfire.
After Wallace was charged, he reportedly attempted to tamper with witnesses and threatened those who were set to testify against him, further complicating his case.
Sentencing for Wallace has been postponed as a pre-sentence investigation is conducted. Wallace will remain in custody until sentencing.
