AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) — Tiffany Hickman, 39, and Quentin Buetow, 25, were arrested in connection with a series of postal box and mail thefts in Amarillo. The arrests followed a joint investigation involving multiple agencies after a rise in post office box burglaries.
The investigation began with information from the Postal Inspector’s office, which led detectives to gather additional evidence, including surveillance footage showing the suspects. The Potter County Sheriff’s Office identified Hickman and Buetow and their vehicle, which matched descriptions from the thefts.
Authorities traced the suspects to a home on Preston Street, where a traffic stop was made when they returned. Hickman and Buetow were found with a makeshift postal master key, commonly used to open post office boxes, and stolen mail. Buetow was also found with suspected methamphetamine.
Officers searched their home and discovered more stolen property, including forged checks, stolen credit cards, IDs, property boxes, and four pistols from a recent burglary. The suspects led officers to a storage unit, where even more stolen items were recovered.
Buetow was charged with methamphetamine possession, theft, and possession of criminal instruments. Hickman faces charges including fraudulent use of identifying information, burglary, and possession of criminal instruments. Both suspects have been connected to mail thefts in at least four cities.
