by Sophia Bennett

TAMPA, Fla. — Maria Montesino, 42, was arrested on Tuesday after she allegedly threatened a bomb would detonate during a robbery at Grow Financial Federal Credit Union. The incident occurred just after 2:30 p.m. at the credit union on N. Oregon Avenue.

According to authorities, Montesino told the bank teller that a man outside had threatened to detonate a bomb unless the teller handed over money. Fearing for her life, the teller complied, giving Montesino the money before she fled the scene.

Following a swift investigation, detectives determined that Montesino had fabricated the story of the bomb threat. Less than two hours later, she was located at a nearby apartment complex and arrested.

Montesino now faces several felony charges, including making a false report of a bomb and threatening to discharge a bomb. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
