Shane A. May Arrested for First-Degree Murder in Danville Homicide

Peplow found dead on Sherman Street, May charged after investigation

DANVILLE, Ill. — A homicide investigation in Danville has led to the arrest of 44-year-old Shane A. May on charges of first-degree murder.

The investigation began on April 7 when Danville police responded to a call from Vermilion County 911 Communications reporting a deceased body at a residence on the 700 block of Sherman Street. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the death and began a crime scene investigation, with assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit.

The victim, identified as 41-year-old Monty E. Peplow of Danville, was found dead at the scene. After a thorough investigation and collaboration with the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, police arrested May approximately eight hours later.

May is currently being held in the Vermilion County Public Safety Building, awaiting a hearing on the first-degree murder charges.
