Robert Houston Arrested for Armed Robbery in Oxford, MS

25-Year-Old Allegedly Stole Car at Gunpoint, Later Found by Police

Oxford, MS – May 22, 2017 – The Oxford Police Department has arrested Robert Houston, 25, on a charge of armed robbery after he allegedly stole a vehicle at gunpoint.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on Saturday, May 20, 2017, when Houston visited the victim’s home. While there, he allegedly pulled a gun and demanded the victim’s car keys, phone, and vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Authorities later located Houston during a traffic stop, where he was detained. However, the stolen vehicle was not in his possession at the time. Following an investigation, officers determined that Houston had parked the car in a rural area, where it was later recovered.

Houston was officially charged with armed robbery (Mississippi Code 97-3-97) on Monday, May 22, 2017. He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center and booked on a $15,000 bond.

The Oxford Police Department continues to urge residents to report any suspicious activity and remain vigilant against crimes involving weapons.
