Raheem David Murray Arrested After High-Speed Chase and Crash

Raheem David Murray, 31, of Indianapolis, was arrested on November 2 after leading Carmel police on a high-speed chase and crashing his Tesla on Keystone Parkway. The incident began when a Carmel police officer attempted to stop Murray’s gray Tesla, which was speeding at nearly 75 mph in a 50 mph zone just north of 96th Street.

Murray refused to stop and fled westbound on 126th Street, where he accelerated to 80 mph. The officer pursued Murray through Carmel City Center and onto Range Line Road. At one point, Murray crossed into the wrong lane and merged onto Keystone Parkway, heading south in the northbound lanes. The officer ended the pursuit at this point.

Soon after, Murray collided head-on with an Acura SUV, causing the vehicle to flip onto its side. The driver of the Acura was unresponsive but later treated at a hospital for a deep laceration and other injuries.

Murray fled the crash scene on foot but was arrested shortly after walking across Keystone Parkway. Upon searching his vehicle, police found approximately 25 pounds of marijuana, divided into 1-pound bags, along with a duffle bag containing two additional 1-pound bags. Officers also discovered a handgun near 126th Street, believed to have been thrown from Murray’s vehicle during the chase.

Murray, who did not have a valid driver’s license and is prohibited from carrying a firearm due to a prior felony conviction, faces multiple charges including resisting law enforcement, dealing and possession of marijuana, criminal recklessness, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an injury accident. He is currently held in the Hamilton County Jail with a $250,000 bond.
