Peterborough Drug Dealer Jailed for Five Years After Cocaine Supply Conviction

Alfons Kojku Sentenced Following Joint Operation Between Suffolk and Essex Police

by Amelia Crawford

Alfons Kojku, a 37-year-old drug dealer from Peterborough, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple drug-related charges, including the supply of cocaine and driving offences. The conviction follows a joint investigation between Suffolk and Essex Police into the organised distribution of drugs.

The case began in May last year when Kojku was stopped while driving a silver Hyundai on the A14 near Newmarket, Suffolk. Officers conducted a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search, discovering two mobile phones and a sum of cash in his possession. This led to Kojku’s arrest for being involved in the supply of controlled drugs.

Further investigation, including a review of the data on his mobile phones, revealed evidence linking Kojku to the organised supply of cocaine in Suffolk. Additionally, Suffolk Police connected this investigation to an earlier incident in Essex, where Kojku had been stopped under similar circumstances, though no charges were initially filed at the time.

Working with Essex Police, authorities charged Kojku with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, as well as possession with intent to supply, relating to a separate incident in Essex in 2023.

Kojku appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on January 3, where he pleaded guilty to the charges. He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment, and the judge ordered the forfeiture of £2,010 in cash seized during the investigation.

Sergeant George Laflin from the West Area Sentinel Team in Suffolk stated, “The sentencing of Kojku sends out a clear message that we will robustly deal with individuals involved in organised criminality. Working with our colleagues in Essex, we have achieved a positive result. Kojku will now spend a significant time in prison for his actions.”

This case highlights the continued efforts of law enforcement in tackling organised drug crime, ensuring those who profit from illegal drug supply are brought to justice.
