Patrick Wall Arrested for Scamming Senior Citizens Out of $100K+

Man allegedly defrauded elderly homeowners across New Hyde Park and Floral Park

by Sophia Bennett

A 24-year-old man, Patrick Wall, allegedly scammed elderly homeowners across New Hyde Park, Floral Park, and surrounding neighborhoods out of more than $100,000 by promising to repair their homes and then cashing fraudulent checks. Wall was arrested on January 5, 2025, during an arraignment where his privately retained attorney, James D’Angelo, entered a plea of “Not Guilty” on his behalf. Wall faces multiple charges, including felonies and misdemeanors, in six different criminal cases.

Wall’s arrest follows a series of suspicious home repair transactions that involved elderly victims who were misled into writing large checks for repairs that were never completed. One of the victims, a 91-year-old homeowner in New Hyde Park, claims to have paid Wall and his crew $58,000 for basement waterproofing and foundation repairs. The homeowner alleges Wall returned to demand additional funds for further repairs that were never done.

In another case, a New Hyde Park resident paid Wall $1,600 to fix mildew damage around his home. After noticing Wall and his crew damaging his property further, the homeowner confronted Wall. Wall allegedly presented a $17,000 estimate for additional repairs before being asked to leave.

In Floral Park, a homeowner reported paying Wall a $6,000 check for chimney repairs. As the alleged scam continued, the homeowner wrote checks amounting to $56,000, including one for $30,000 for supplies. Wall eventually disappeared after demanding a $32,000 payment for a roof repair, leading the homeowner to contact the authorities.

The charges Wall faces include felony larceny, conspiracy, felony mischief, and scheme to defraud, among others. Authorities have urged other potential victims to come forward. Wall’s next court date is scheduled for January 16, 2025, in Mineola.

Wall is currently considered innocent of all charges at this stage of the legal proceedings. His release comes with instructions to register with Pretrial Services while awaiting further legal action.
