Nashik city police’s Crime Branch team 1 arrested Ramnath Golesar, a resident of Viraj Colony, Canada Corner, on Saturday after recovering six stolen autorickshaws, which he had been using with fake registration plates. The arrest followed a complaint from Ambernath police station in Thane, where an autorickshaw had been reported stolen.
Upon receiving a tip-off, police apprehended Golesar and questioned him about the autorickshaw he was driving. He confessed to stealing it, and during further interrogation, he admitted to stealing five more autorickshaws. Out of the six, complaints for three had been filed at different police stations in Thane.
The police are continuing to investigate the other three stolen vehicles. The value of the recovered autorickshaws is estimated to be over Rs six lakh. The operation was carried out under the guidance of CP Sandeep Karnik, DCP (Crime) Prashant Bacchav, and ACP (Crime) Sandeep Mitke, with support from Senior PI Madhukar Kad and his team.
CP Karnik has urged all police personnel in the city to focus on solving cases of theft and robbery.
