Police achieved a major breakthrough in the Nayapalli murder case by arresting five individuals, including the prime accused, Nandu. The case centers on the killing of Jitendra Das, also known as Bablu, in Bhubaneswar’s Unit-8 area.
On December 27, Bablu parked his car near his residence in Nilakanthanagar when assailants launched a sudden attack. Nandu and his associates, armed with sharp weapons, struck Bablu from behind and forced him into their vehicle. During the abduction, Bablu sustained severe head injuries and was taken toward CBI Office Road. He was admitted to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries on New Year’s Day.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a love triangle was the likely motive, with disputes between Bablu and Nandu over a young woman escalating into violence.
Police tracked Nandu and his associates after they fled Bhubaneswar. On Thursday, officers captured three suspects from the city outskirts, bringing the total arrests in the case to five. Investigations continue to uncover any additional involvement and fully establish the motive behind the attack.
