A shocking robbery took place on December 29 in Mumbai’s Agripada area, where two armed men held the owner and an employee of Rishabh Jewellers hostage, looting gold and silver jewelry worth Rs 1.91 crore.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 3:30 PM near Saat Rasta when two unidentified men entered the jewelry shop pretending to make a purchase. After engaging in conversation with the staff, the robbers suddenly pulled out a country-made pistol and a knife, threatening to harm the victims.
The armed men tied up the shop owner, Bhavarlal Jain, and an employee before attacking them inside the store. They then looted 2,458 grams of jewelry, comprising gold and silver. A customer, arriving at the store later, found the victims tied up and immediately alerted the police.
Agripada Police registered a case and began their investigation. The swift action of Mumbai Crime Branch led to the identification and arrest of the main suspect, Vinod Lakhan Pal, a resident of Kandharikala village in Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur district. Further investigations led the police to Simrabhatta village in Madhya Pradesh’s Niwari district, where another suspect was arrested.
Both suspects are currently in police custody, and authorities are working to recover the stolen jewelry and identify any possible accomplices involved in the heist.
