MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — Two people have been arrested in connection with the theft of more than $1,600 worth of gold jewelry from a Mountain Home Walmart, according to police records.
Authorities identified the suspects as Morgan Lee Miller, 38, of Mountain Home, and Rayndii Tanager Tolliver, 31, of Cotter. Both face three charges each, including felony commercial burglary, felony organized retail theft, and misdemeanor unlawful removal of a theft detection device.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, the theft occurred in early December at the Walmart jewelry counter. A store manager discovered that a spinning display case had been pried open, with several empty jewelry boxes found inside.
Surveillance video allegedly shows Miller and Tolliver repeatedly walking around the jewelry counter. Miller is seen squatting near the display case and manipulating it while Tolliver moved around the area. The pair later returned with a shopping cart containing a dog bed, which police say was used to block Miller’s actions while Tolliver acted as a lookout.
After removing the jewelry, the suspects allegedly exited the store without paying, passing all points of sale. Police say seven pairs of 10-karat gold earrings, valued at $1,646, were stolen.
Both suspects are currently parolees assigned to the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Bond for each was set at $5,000.
Court records show Tolliver has two prior felony arrests in Baxter County, while Miller has one. Both have previous convictions related to theft and other offenses.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and both suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
