TORONTO — Michael Jourdan, a 21-year-old football player from Toronto, has been released from custody under strict conditions after facing multiple charges related to fentanyl trafficking. Jourdan’s release came with the consent of the Crown following his appearance in Regina provincial court on Monday.

Jourdan, who faces charges of fentanyl trafficking, participation in a criminal organization, and possession of the proceeds of crime, was one of five individuals arrested after a four-month-long drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Regina Police Service (RPS). During the operation, RPS officers seized 7.5 kilograms of fentanyl, 476 grams of cocaine, 22 grams of methamphetamine, and over $150,000 in cash, with an estimated total value of $1.5 million.

Under his release conditions, Jourdan must:

Attend court when required.
Report to his probation officer.
Abstain from alcohol or any drugs not prescribed to him.
Avoid businesses primarily selling marijuana or alcohol.
Not have contact with fellow co-accused football player Tarick Polius except for school or football practice.
Refrain from contacting the other three co-accused: Emmanuel Ramadan Bashir, Morteza Ahadi, and Randal Lee Racette.
Jourdan is also prohibited from possessing firearms or smartphones unless the device is registered in his name. Additionally, he is required to surrender his American passport to the police within 24 hours and his Canadian passport by 4 p.m. on March 7.

Jourdan is scheduled to appear in court again in March. While he and Polius were listed on the University of Regina Rams’ 2024 roster, the university has since suspended them from the team pending the outcome of their legal proceedings.

As of early Wednesday morning, Jourdan is the only one of the five individuals charged in the investigation to have been granted bail.
