The anti-drug squad (ADS) of Miao police station, with assistance from lady constables, successfully apprehended a woman drug peddler in Miao town on Friday. The arrested individual, identified as Sunita Subba (32) from Namphai Singpho village, was reportedly on her way to supply drugs in the Vijaynagar area, located 140 km from Miao.
Acting on credible information, the ADS intercepted Subba near the Miao welcome gate and seized five plastic tobacco containers containing 67.48 grams of suspected heroin from her possession.
Miao police have been consistently fighting drug peddling despite challenges like limited manpower and insufficient vehicles. The local law enforcement remains dedicated to curbing antisocial activities in the area.
Although there are a few drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centers in Miao township, their effectiveness is hindered by limited resources and facilities, making it difficult for addicts to seek help.
The United Miao Mission and the Miao Singpho Ramma Hpung youth wing praised the arrest and expressed their gratitude towards Miao PS OC Inspector Vicky Lowang and the anti-drug squad for their ongoing efforts to combat the drug trade.
