Two individuals, Md. Sabir (24) and Md. Faizan (32), both from Bihar, were arrested by the Keshav Puram police for their involvement in a major theft of cashew kernels, valued at Rs48 lakh. The police successfully recovered 5910 kilograms of cashews, amounting to 295 ½ cartons, from the accused.
The crime was reported on July 7 by Alok Bhatia, a resident of Ashok Vihar, Delhi. Bhatia had hired a truck to transport 6000 kgs of cashews, worth Rs48.45 lakh, from Luthra Ice Plant to Hardiram Marketing Private Limited. The goods were loaded into a truck (DL 01 LAF 7764) but were never delivered to the destination. When attempts to contact the truck driver failed, Bhatia grew suspicious and filed a complaint with the Keshav Puram police.
The police began investigating the case, examining CCTV footage and using technical surveillance to track the movements of the accused. After a detailed investigation, Md. Sabir and Md. Faizan were identified and arrested. The stolen goods, hidden in various locations across Delhi, were recovered.
The accused confessed to the crime, stating that they had stolen the cashews to make quick money. The police also recovered the truck near Adarsh Nagar metro station. Both individuals have been charged and are in police custody.
