LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – A Laredo man has been arrested in connection with two separate shoplifting incidents.

According to the Laredo Police Department, 60-year-old Jesus Manuel Herrera was taken into custody after being identified as the suspect in a recent theft at the 5.11 store on Monarch Drive. Authorities say Herrera was seen leaving the store and driving away in a Hyundai truck after allegedly stealing merchandise valued at approximately $100.

Police also linked Herrera to another shoplifting case that occurred on August 15, though details of that theft were not disclosed.

Following an investigation, officers arrested Herrera on October 7 for theft of property, a misdemeanor offense.

The Laredo Police Department continues to emphasize the importance of reporting shoplifting and other retail crimes to help prevent ongoing losses for local businesses.
