An 18-year-old Pensacola man, Jaylen Bell, has been arrested for breaking into a truck and stealing a pistol and cash over the summer. Bell faces multiple charges, including grand theft of a firearm, grand theft, burglary, and damaging property.
The incident took place on August 15 at a home on White Pines Drive in Escambia County. According to the arrest report, the victim discovered that the passenger side window of his truck had been broken, and both his pistol and $1,400 in cash were missing. The next day, the victim saw pictures on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram of a man named “Jay” holding the stolen pistol and a large sum of cash.
After investigating, authorities identified Bell as the suspect through a mutual friend. Deputies also reviewed a Snapchat video posted by Bell on the same day of the theft, in which he was wearing a black ski mask. The video’s location, traced by the app’s longitude and latitude features, placed Bell on White Pines Drive near the victim’s home at the time of the break-in.
Bell was arrested Wednesday and is now facing serious charges related to the theft and damage caused to the victim’s property.
