Dade County, Ga. – James Janow, Jr. was arrested in Dade County after an intense search led officers to find him hiding behind a false wall in his home. Authorities were on the lookout for Janow, who was wanted on multiple warrants, including charges related to fentanyl possession and obstruction of law enforcement.

On Thursday, Sheriff Ray Cross and a sergeant spotted Janow’s vehicle outside a home on Highway 299. As they waited for backup, Janow attempted to flee, leading officers on a brief chase before returning to his home. After confirming he had not escaped into the surrounding woods, detectives secured a search warrant. Using a thermal imaging camera provided by Dade EMA Director Alex Case, officers located Janow concealed behind a mirror in a closet.

Janow was arrested on four warrants in Dade County and one from Hamilton County. He faces charges including possession of fentanyl, a Schedule 2 narcotic, and obstruction of law enforcement.

In addition to Janow’s arrest, four other individuals were taken into custody:

April Millard of Sequatchie, Tennessee, was arrested for possession of a Schedule 2 narcotic, a Jackson County, Alabama warrant, and hindering the apprehension of a fugitive.
Kimla Tolbert and James Janow Sr., both of Wildwood, and James Janow III of Virginia Beach, Virginia, were all charged with hindering the apprehension of a fugitive.
The investigation into the case continues as authorities work to ensure all individuals involved face justice.
