Two armed men who traveled from North West England to shoot at a house in Hull have been sentenced to prison.
Liam Roscoe, 25, and James Connor, 27, executed a “deliberately targeted” attack on a property on River Grove on July 20, 2023, damaging a video doorbell and shattering a mirror, according to Humberside Police.
At Grimsby Crown Court, Roscoe received a 10-year sentence, while Connor was sentenced to four years. Roscoe, from Birkrig, Skelmersdale, denied charges of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence but was convicted in February. Connor, residing on Statton Road in Liverpool, admitted to the charge prior to sentencing.
A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service noted that while no one was injured, the incident left the victim feeling “terrified.”
CCTV footage captured the duo fleeing the scene in a vehicle registered to Connor, who had traveled from Liverpool, stopping at a pub in Skelmersdale to pick up Roscoe. The footage showed them parking the car shortly before the shooting and scoping out the property.
An hour after the shots were fired, police responded to reports of gunfire and discovered a bullet hole in the front window.
Detective Chief Inspector Jayne Goodens stated, “These men thought they could evade the police after shooting at a property and fleeing back to Merseyside and Lancashire, but that wasn’t the case.” She emphasized that their actions were extremely dangerous, posing a serious risk of injury or death to bystanders.
Connor was arrested on August 3 on Crosswood Crescent in Liverpool, while Roscoe was apprehended at Liverpool Airport three weeks later, using someone else’s identification to travel.
