Former Charleston County Detention Deputy Brian Ward Arrested on Multiple Charges

Brian Ward, 41, faces conspiracy, contraband, and misconduct charges

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Former Charleston County Detention Deputy Brian Ward, 41, was arrested on Thursday facing three charges: conspiracy, contraband in a county facility, and misconduct with a public officer.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Ward’s arrest but has not yet provided details regarding what led to the investigation or the specific circumstances surrounding his charges. Ward had been employed by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office since October 2024.

Sheriff Carl Ritchie addressed the arrest, stating, “A former Charleston County detention deputy was arrested on several charges.” Ward remains in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
