Five Arrested in Dimapur ATM Theft, Says Kevithuto Sophie

Over Rs13.5 lakh recovered; police search for second car

In a major breakthrough, Dimapur police have arrested five individuals allegedly involved in the ATM heist of Rs25.85 lakh that took place in the early hours of February 20 at Half Nagarjan, Dimapur.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie confirmed that the arrests were made in multiple locations across Assam and Nagaland. Two suspects were apprehended in Hojai (Nagaon district), two in Bokajan (Karbi Anglong district), and one from Dimapur itself.

Four of the arrested have been identified as:

Sana Ullah (38) – Hojai

Amir Hussain (41) – Morigaon

Raja Deb (25) – Haflong

Harum Rashid (29) – Nagaon

Police have so far recovered Rs13,50,200 in cash from the suspects. Additionally, they seized a car and a two-wheeler reportedly used during the crime. Efforts are ongoing to locate another vehicle believed to be involved.

Commissioner Sophie assured that investigations are still active and more arrests or recoveries may follow.
