Sydney, Australia — Daniel McCluskie, a 44-year-old digital health adviser to the federal government, has been charged with 15 domestic violence-related offences involving two women over a three-year span.
McCluskie was arrested early Wednesday morning at a home on Sibbick Street in Russell Lea, in Sydney’s inner west. Video of the arrest showed him in grey tracksuit pants and ugg boots as he was escorted by officers into a waiting police vehicle.
The charges against him include:
Eight counts of sexual intercourse without consent
Three counts of choking without consent
Kidnapping, stalking and intimidation
Recording an intimate image without consent
Detaining a person with intent to obtain advantage
Police allege McCluskie assaulted a 35-year-old woman between 2021 and 2023, and choked a 52-year-old woman he met on a dating app in March 2024.
McCluskie is listed as a digital health adviser for the Australian Digital Health Agency, a federal body overseeing the national e-health system. The agency confirmed it is aware of the charges but stated:
“Digital Health Advisers are not employees of the Agency.”
McCluskie was granted bail in Parramatta Local Court on Thursday under strict conditions, including:
Wearing an ankle monitor
Surrendering his passport
A curfew from 8pm to 5am
Reporting to police three times per week
No contact with witnesses except via legal counsel
A ban on leaving New South Wales or accessing ports of departure
He is scheduled to return to court on September 10.
The investigation is ongoing under Strike Force Brandum.
