Sparks Police have arrested Daniel Aguirre, 27, following an attempted robbery at the Best Buy on Los Altos Parkway on January 4. Aguirre was apprehended after a series of theft-related incidents in the area.

According to Sparks Police, the incident began at around 4:00 p.m. when Aguirre attempted to steal two occupied vehicles in the parking lot of Red Robin. The drivers of both cars quickly drove away from the scene.

A Best Buy Loss Prevention staff member later identified Aguirre, who attempted to flee on foot when officers arrived. After a brief foot chase through a nearby Costco parking lot, Aguirre was captured without further incident.

During the investigation, Aguirre was found to have tried to steal two laptops from the store. He now faces several charges, including attempted robbery, obstructing justice, petit larceny, and possession of a forged instrument.

Aguirre is currently being held at the Washoe County Detention Facility. Sparks Police are asking anyone who witnessed the attempted car thefts in the Red Robin parking lot to contact them at (775) 353-2231 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900. The case is identified as 25-136.
