On Wednesday, Shivdaspura police arrested Kanha Singh Yadav, a 24-year-old contract killer from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the 2023 murder of Krishna Mohan. Yadav had been evading arrest for months after the crime and was arrested on a production warrant following his detention by Malpura Gate police last week in an Arms Act case. He had been a fugitive in the murder case, with a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head.
The murder occurred on September 4, 2023, when Krishna Mohan’s body was found on a road in Birkheda village. Initially, authorities believed it was a road accident, but a thorough investigation revealed that the victim had been deliberately run over by an SUV.
As the investigation progressed, it was discovered that Krishna Mohan, who had been battling drug addiction, had become a source of distress for his family. His brother, Hanuman Prasad, who worked at a local hospital, had conspired with his friend Vijay Kumar to eliminate him. The two approached Yadav and his accomplice, who frequented a cafe in Shivdaspura, to carry out the murder for a fee of Rs 1.5 lakh.
After striking the deal, the killers lured Krishna Mohan to a remote location where they deliberately ran him over with an SUV. The perpetrators fled the scene, hoping to make the crime appear as an accident. However, forensic evidence and diligent police work eventually exposed the truth behind the premeditated murder.
