DORAL, Fla. – A road rage incident that began on the Sawgrass Expressway in Broward County escalated into a 40-minute pursuit and ended in Doral, where police arrested 38-year-old Brian Joseph Putnam of Coral Springs on multiple charges.

According to police, the incident started when the victim, driving a work truck in the left lane, was aggressively tailgated by Putnam in a Ford F-350. Despite the victim changing lanes to let him pass, Putnam allegedly continued following the vehicle persistently, honking and refusing to pass.

The pursuit continued all the way into Miami-Dade County and onto the Palmetto Expressway. When the victim exited at NW 25th Street in Doral, he attempted to evade Putnam through “multiple evasive driving maneuvers,” but was still followed into a parking lot at 8975 NW 25th St.

There, Putnam reportedly boxed the victim in and began walking around the lot, prompting the victim to repeatedly reverse to avoid confrontation. At one point, Putnam is said to have intentionally sideswiped the victim’s vehicle and blocked him from exiting the lot.

When Doral police arrived, they found Putnam had parked in a way that continued to block the lot entrance. CCTV footage supported the victim’s claims, and officers arrested Putnam at the scene.

He now faces charges of false imprisonment, aggravated stalking, and battery. Putnam declined to speak with officers during the arrest.
