HONOLULU (Island News) — Isaiah McCoy, 38, of Honolulu, was convicted by a federal jury on multiple sex trafficking charges, including trafficking three adults and one minor.
McCoy was found guilty on four counts of sex trafficking, two counts of obstructing a sex trafficking investigation, seven counts of interstate and foreign travel in aid of racketeering enterprises, and one count of interstate travel for prostitution purposes.
“This conviction marks a significant step in the Justice Department’s efforts to bring justice to those who exploit the vulnerable,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “Human trafficking is a blight on our society, and we are committed to eradicating it.”
During the 12-day trial, evidence showed that McCoy coerced his victims into performing hundreds of commercial sex acts between 2019 and 2021. He lured them with promises of romantic relationships, luxurious lifestyles, and financial security, but resorted to physical violence to maintain control.
Special Agent in Charge Lucy Cabral-DeArmas of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Hawaii stated, “McCoy is a predator who left a trail of victims behind him. HSI will continue to pursue individuals like McCoy who exploit vulnerable women and girls and believe they will escape accountability.”
McCoy is facing a minimum of 15 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for August 18. The case was investigated by HSI and the Honolulu Police Department.
