In a major drug bust, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch seized 194 kilograms of marijuana worth Rs42 lakh from a warehouse in Vatva GIDC, linked to an ongoing smuggling operation from Odisha. The police investigation further revealed that 500 kilograms of marijuana had already been delivered to Bharuch from the same source.
The authorities arrested Mustakim Belim, a drug peddler from Bharuch, in connection with the case. However, before the police could apprehend him, Belim had already disposed of the 500 kilograms of marijuana. A special team has been formed to investigate the matter further.
The Ahmedabad Crime Branch’s operation uncovered 200 kilograms of marijuana at the Vatva GIDC warehouse. The authorities arrested seven people, including two individuals responsible for sending the consignment from Ganjam, Odisha.
The crime branch had received specific intelligence suggesting that a total of 1,100 kilograms of marijuana had been loaded onto a truck, with only 200 kilograms intended for Ahmedabad. Suspecting that the remaining 900 kilograms had been distributed to other states, the police interrogated the accused, expanding the investigation into a larger network of drug trafficking.
