In a major breakthrough against the drug trade, Dhubri Police arrested notorious drug peddler Tarif Ahmed (34) on Saturday evening in Dhubri town’s busy market area. The operation, led by Sub-Inspector Nilim Talukdar, was based on a tip-off, resulting in the recovery of a substantial quantity of narcotics from Ahmed’s possession.
Ahmed, a resident of Ward No. 8 in Dhubri and the son of Sofique Ahmed, has been allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the region for an extended period. The authorities believe his arrest could lead to the dismantling of a broader drug trafficking network operating in the area.
“This is a major success in our ongoing efforts to curb the illegal drug trade in the district,” said a police spokesperson. The investigation is ongoing to identify others involved in the illegal trade, and authorities are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Dhubri’s residents.
The police operation serves as a strong message to drug traffickers, reinforcing the authorities’ determination to eliminate narcotics-related activities and build a drug-free society.
