Marlena Valez, a 22-year-old TikTok influencer, was arrested this week in Florida after allegedly stealing over $500 worth of merchandise from a Target store in Cape Coral, according to a report by The Mirror.
Police identified Valez after she unintentionally posted a video of herself stealing the items on TikTok. The video, which was meant to showcase her lifestyle as a mom, inadvertently showed her committing the crime.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, Valez used self-checkout registers to steal 16 items of household goods and clothing. Instead of scanning the actual barcodes, she scanned cheaper barcodes, resulting in a loss of $500.32. The theft was confirmed through Target’s security footage.
Valez faces charges of petit theft and is scheduled to appear in court on December 10.
