Jackie Shroyer, wife of Minnesota missionary Beau Shroyer, has been arrested by Angolan authorities in connection with his tragic death. Beau was killed on October 25 while serving a mission in Angola, Africa. The news of his death was confirmed by Lakes Area Vineyard, a church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where Pastor Troy Easton expressed deep sorrow, describing the death as “an act of violence while serving Jesus.”

Beau Shroyer, a devoted missionary and father of five, had embarked on his mission with his family after COVID restrictions lifted. SIM USA President Randy Fairman confirmed his death, stating that Beau had left his previous career to share hope and love in Angola.

According to the Angola Press Agency, authorities arrested Jackie Shroyer, along with two Angolan men, Bernadino Elias, 24, and Isalino Kayôo, 23, in connection with the murder. A third suspect, Gelson Ramos, 22, is still at large. The arrest of Jackie was also confirmed by Lakes Area Vineyard.

Pastor Easton expressed disbelief, saying, “I’m so sorry and simply do not have words to express my disbelief and sorrow about this news.” He assured the congregation that the Shroyer children were being well cared for and that support from SIM USA and SIM Angola would continue for the family.

Angolan police allege that Jackie Shroyer had been having an affair with Elias, who served as the family’s security guard. Reports claim that Jackie allegedly conspired with Elias, who then recruited Kayôo and Ramos with promises of a $50,000 reward. The weapon used in the crime, a knife, had reportedly been given to Elias by Beau himself.

Authorities have labeled Jackie the “mastermind” of the plot, revealing that she had visited the crime scene three days before the murder with Elias to choose the location where the crime would unfold. On the day of the murder, Kayôo and Ramos allegedly staged car trouble near the scene before killing Beau.

A spokesperson for Angola’s Criminal Investigation Service, Manuel Halaiwa, indicated that authorities suspect a romantic motive behind the crime, suggesting that Jackie may not have wanted to leave Angola once Beau’s mission was over.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to raise funds for transporting Beau’s body back to the United States. The page describes Beau as a dedicated man who had left behind his career in law enforcement and real estate to follow his calling and spread kindness and faith in Angola.

The investigation into the murder continues, and authorities are working to apprehend the remaining suspect, Gelson Ramos.
