DEMPOLIS, Ala. — A public tip led to the arrest of ten individuals in Demopolis on charges related to human and drug trafficking, according to Police Chief Rex Flowers.
Three of the suspects — 34-year-old Shanikqua Shante Johnson, 40-year-old Mark Key Gamble, and 34-year-old DeCarlos Antawn Johnson, all from Demopolis — face human trafficking charges. These charges stem from an investigation involving a juvenile female runaway from Madison County.
Police say Shanikqua Johnson and Terrance Terrell Collier of Huntsville picked up the juvenile and transported her to Demopolis to engage in sexual activity for money. Gamble and DeCarlos Johnson were also implicated in criminal acts involving the juvenile.
The remaining seven suspects — 70-year-old Jesse Collins, 69-year-old Earnest Bryant, 61-year-old William Henry Eatmon Jr., 54-year-old Rosetta Smith James, 40-year-old Johnny Dewayne Gracie, 36-year-old Milton James Daniels, and 35-year-old Felisah Amea Nazario, all from Demopolis — were arrested on cocaine trafficking charges following a search warrant executed at a Demopolis residence.
All ten individuals are currently held at the Marengo County Jail. Terrance Collier was arrested separately in Huntsville and faces human trafficking charges as well.
